Private Tuition Terms & Conditions

Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd

Effective date: 10 October 2026

Contact: contact@animalinsightsconsultancy.com | 07971 550 320

These terms explain how private tuition is booked and delivered. They are written to protect both you and Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd while keeping the arrangement clear, professional and supportive.

1. About the service

Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd provides online one-to-one tuition, study support, professional development and career guidance relating to animal care, animal management, zookeeping, zoo management and related subjects.

Sessions are educational and advisory. They are not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis, medical treatment, legal advice, formal college assessment, workplace instruction or an employer's own policies and procedures.

2. Who can book

Bookings may be made by an adult for themselves, by a parent or guardian for a student under 18, or by an organisation for a staff member or group.

For anyone under 18, a parent or legal guardian must make or approve the booking, provide consent, and ensure that the arrangements are suitable. A parent or guardian may request to be present for a session.

Carl Groombridge holds an Enhanced DBS certificate. This supports safe working practices but does not remove the need for appropriate parental supervision, consent and communication.

3. Booking and acceptance

A booking becomes confirmed when Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd accepts the request and the agreed session, package or group arrangement has been confirmed in writing.

The client must provide accurate contact details, the student's age where relevant, the course or level, and any information reasonably needed to plan the session. Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd may decline or end a booking where the service is unsuitable, information is materially incomplete, or safe and respectful working conditions cannot be maintained.

4. Prices and payment

The current advertised prices are:

  • One-to-one tuition: £45 per hour

  • Block of five sessions: £200

  • Group or staff-team sessions: price on request

All advertised prices include VAT at 20%. A different written quotation replaces the advertised price for that booking.

Payment is due before the session unless another arrangement has been agreed in writing. A block of sessions must normally be paid for before the first session. Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd may withhold or reschedule a session where payment is overdue.

A receipt or VAT invoice will be provided where appropriate. Bookings are personal to the named client and may not be transferred without agreement.

5. Introductory conversation

The initial introductory conversation is free and carries no obligation to book. It is used to understand the client's goals, confirm that tuition is suitable and agree the next step.

6. Sessions and online delivery

Sessions are delivered online using an agreed platform such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. The client is responsible for having a suitable device, working internet connection, a reasonably private environment and any course materials they want to discuss.

The client should join promptly and make sure notifications and interruptions are minimised. A session may be shortened or ended if the environment is unsafe, abusive, discriminatory or unsuitable for productive learning.

Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd will make reasonable efforts to keep appointments and provide a professional service. If Carl Groombridge has to cancel because of illness, technical problems or another unavoidable reason, the session will be rearranged or refunded at the client's choice.

7. Cancellations and rearrangements

The client may rearrange or cancel a session without charge by giving at least 24 hours' notice.

If less than 24 hours' notice is given, or the client does not attend, the session may be charged in full. Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd may use discretion where there are exceptional circumstances.

If a block of sessions is cancelled part-way through, completed sessions will be charged at the applicable single-session rate and any remaining balance will be refunded, subject to these cancellation terms.

Where a client is legally entitled to cancel under consumer law, those rights apply. If the client asks for tuition to begin during a statutory cancellation period, the client agrees that any tuition already provided may be charged on a proportionate basis.

8. Refunds

Refund requests should be sent to contact@animalinsightsconsultancy.com. Approved refunds will normally be returned using the original payment method.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any refund, cancellation or other right that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

9. Study support and academic integrity

Tuition may include explaining subjects, discussing ideas, helping a student plan work, reviewing understanding, practising questions and giving general feedback.

The student remains responsible for their own work. Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd will not write assessed work for a student, impersonate a student, complete an examination, or help a student breach the rules of a school, college, university, awarding body or employer. The client must follow the relevant institution's academic-integrity and assessment rules.

No grade, qualification, examination result, job offer or other outcome is guaranteed.

10. Client responsibilities

The client agrees to:

  • provide truthful and complete information;

  • treat the tutor respectfully and communicate promptly about changes;

  • follow reasonable safety, safeguarding and platform instructions;

  • obtain permission before sharing confidential, copyrighted or third-party material;

  • ensure that any under-18 booking has appropriate parent or guardian consent; and

  • avoid recording, photographing, copying or distributing a session without prior written permission.

11. Safeguarding and professional boundaries

Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd takes safeguarding seriously. Concerns about a child's safety, abuse, exploitation, serious self-harm risk or another safeguarding matter may need to be shared with a parent, guardian, college, relevant authority or emergency service where necessary and lawful.

Communication should take place through the agreed contact details and during reasonable hours wherever possible. The tutor may pause or end communication or a session if professional boundaries are not respected.

In an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service first. Online tuition is not an emergency support service.

12. Confidentiality and privacy

Information shared for tuition will be treated confidentially and used only to provide, administer and improve the service, except where disclosure is required by law, necessary for safeguarding, needed to protect someone from serious harm, or needed to enforce these terms.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data-protection law and Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd's privacy notice. The client should not share unnecessary sensitive personal information during a session.

Session recording is not routine. Neither party may record or distribute a session without the prior agreement of the other party, except where a lawful safeguarding or legal process requires it.

13. Materials and intellectual property

Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd retains ownership of its teaching materials, templates, notes, diagrams, recordings, presentations and other original content unless otherwise agreed in writing.

The client receives a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use supplied materials for their own study or agreed internal training. Materials must not be resold, published, uploaded, copied substantially or distributed to others without written permission.

The client retains ownership of their own work and materials, subject to any third-party rights.

14. Accuracy and liability

Information is provided in good faith and based on practical experience, but animal care standards, laws, course requirements and workplace policies can change. The client should check current requirements with the relevant college, awarding body, employer, regulator or qualified professional.

To the extent permitted by law, Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd is not responsible for loss caused by the client's failure to follow advice, provide accurate information, use materials appropriately or obtain separate professional advice where needed.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of statutory rights, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Subject to the paragraph above, Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd's total liability arising from a booking will not exceed the amount paid for that booking, except where the law requires otherwise.

15. Complaints

If something is not right, please contact contact@animalinsightsconsultancy.com as soon as possible with the booking details and the issue. Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd will review the complaint fairly and aim to respond within a reasonable time.

16. Changes to these terms

Animal Insights Consultancy Ltd may update these terms from time to time. The terms applying to a booking are the version provided or made available when that booking is confirmed, unless a change is required by law.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply where the client lives.

18. Agreement

By booking or attending a paid session, the client confirms that they have read and accepted these terms. For a client under 18, acceptance must be given by a parent or legal guardian.
